Seven whole years at the top for Nicol

SH_583Nicol David holds onto the number one position for an 85th consecutive month in the August WSA Rankings – that’s more than 365 weeks, which makes it slightly easier to work out that she’s been there for seven whole years since first reaching the top in August 2006.

The 29 year old Malaysian, who will turn 30 at the end of the month, stays ahead of British Open Champion Laura Massaro in an unchanged top 20. David is currently in Cali, Colombia for the World Games where she leads a strong field featuring seven of the top twenty players.

David, Massaro and the rest of the world’s top players will next be seen in next month’s CIMB Malaysian Open taking place between 10th and 15th September.

Outside the top 20, Amanda Sobhy moves back up seven places to no.23 after claiming her biggest title at the Buler Challenge Cup. There are career highs for Buler Challenge Cup quarter finalist Tong Tsz-Wing at no.47, Nouran Gohar at no.55, Tasmanian Open winner Antonella Falcione at no.76, Malaysian Squash Tour Leg no.7 semi finalist Cyrielle Peltier at no.78, Malaysian Squash Tour Leg no.7 finalist Habiba Mohamed at no.84 and Nada Elkalaawy who makes her top 100 debut at no.100.
