U17 & U13 Inter-County Finals

This weekend – 27th/28th April –  the top under 17 and under 13 junior players head to Lilleshall National Sports Centre to contest the Inter County Finals.

Boys U17
Holders Kent have not reached the finals so a new champion will be crowned. Yorkshire with Jack Cooper and James Peach both nationally ranked in the top 5 at first and second strings may be favourites, but their semi final opponents Hampshire who took last weekends’ Under 15 title could be dark horses with 2 top Under 15 players in their side, Robbie Keefe and Kyle Finch. In the other semi Surrey with Ben Windle and Matthew Broadberry in the top 15 are slight favourites versus Gloucestershire led by Matt Bedwell

Boys U13
In the boys under 13 competition, holders Yorkshire will look to retain their title, and are strong at 1st string with Sam Todd but may struggle against S. E Wales who have strength in depth.Surrey v Cumbria will be a tight tie and may be decided by the 1st strings Max Exelby and Ross Singleton who are around 10 places apart in the National Rankings

Girls U17
Holders Gloucestershire meet Yorkshire in the 1st semi led by 5th ranked Kip QuineyYorkshire led by Charlotte Fish are a younger less experienced side but will look to push them all the way. Rising stars 4th and 9th ranked Alison Thomsonand Kace Bartley lead Surrey in the 2nd semi final versus Northumbria. Surrey are the favourites, as although Northumbria have Lucy Beecroft at 1st string they may find the going tough down the order.

Girls U13
Teams of 3 players contest this category in 2 groups of 3, playing round robins on Saturday and play offs on Sunday. Yorkshire are the holders and play Essex and South East Wales in Group A. Players to watch in this group are exciting prospects Elise Lazarus (Essex) and Ellen Cooper (Yorks) ranked 1 and 2 nationally, as well as Welsh star Ciara Richards. Group B consists of Lincolnshire, Hertfordshire and Norfolk. Lots of top 15 players on view here; Katie Cox , Bonnie Butler (Norfolk)Katie WellsLucy Soulby (Lincs) and Amber MarshallNyah Williams (Herts)
