PSA $5k, 17-19 Nov, Delft, Netherlands
Marcel van Geffen reports
While the locals where playing their own finals, the finale of the 4th Kean Delft Open, between the dutchman Piedro Schweertman and Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid, the defending champion, started at exactly 18.30 (local time).
Both had tough routes to the final and earlier in the day won well-contested semi-finals – Meguid and Steve Finitsis played as if it was the final itself and Schweertman had trouble getting past Kashif Shuja, coming from two-nil down to win in five games.
Probably the tough semi was Schweertman to much to prepare well for the final.
The first game started well for Schweertman who scored some points in a row. By the time he scored five it was Meguid who stepped on the gas, and within few minutes he won his first game.
The second and third game were no different, instead of ‘letting’ Schweertman to reach five points (ahead), Meguid reached his eleven points, all this within 25 minutes.
Looking forward for the next Kean PSA in March in The Hague, or November in Delft again.
