The 2013 Dunlop Welsh National Championships is the biggest in years, with over 110 entries, over 200 matches will be played over the 3 days at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff with the Men’s PSA and Women’s WSA event the showpiece events of the weekend.

Along with the nearly 100 strong entries in grades B, C, D, E and over age groups in the men’s and women’s B event the depth of squash is on the up, players of all standards will be sharing the same courts as some World class squash players.

In her way will be her opponent from last years final Deon Saffery, Deon won her 4th title last year when she beat Tesni 3 – 2. Deon will join an elite group of players on 5 National Women’s titles including Sian Johnson and Tegwen Malik.

Also in the WSA event will be Hannah Davies, Fiona Murphy, Gemma Davies and Beth Winstanley, all great players and all will be looking to cause an upset.

Screen Shot 2012-01-09 at 15.20.03In the Men’s PSA event World Number 70 and recent World Championships first round qualifier and runner up at the Florida State Open Peter Creed, Pete has had a great 2012 and will look to round off a great few weeks and start 2013 with a bang.

Last year Peter won his third National title on the bounce, he could make it 4 out of 4 this year, still a long way behind 10 time National Champion David Evans.

Standing in Peter’s way are some great players including former World number 80 and current Welsh number 2 Scott Fitzgerald, Scott is just returning from injury but will be looking for a good start to the 2013 season with places up for grabs in the Senior National Team.

Also in the PSA event are David Haley, Sam Fenwick, Will John, Joel Makin, Jordan Davies and Sam Davidson, a very young and talented group of players who are all capable of causing an upset somewhere in the draw.

The event starts on Friday afternoon with the pick of the matches from 6pm Friday, the main draw quarter-finals are on Saturday from 12pm and Semi Finals from 6pm, the finals for all the draws begin at 12pm and run through the afternoon.
