Top seeds through to Monte Carlo climax

The final of the 17th edition of the WSA $25k Monte Carlo Classic will be between the top two seeds after Madeline Perry and Natalie Grinham both recorded straight-game wins in today’s semi-finals.

Perry, the top seed from Ireland, beat young Egyptian Heba El Torky 13/11, 11/2, 11/7 in 31 minutes to progress to her third Monaco final, having lost out in the 2005 and 2009 editions.

Her opponent will be second seed Natalie Grinham, whose 28-minute 11/6, 11/7, 11/9 win over Omneya Abdel Kawy took the Dutchwoman’s unbeaten run in the event to 15 matches, having taken the title in 2006, 2007 and 2011.

Grinham enjoyed an impressive run of 12 straight wins over Perry from 2000 to 2009, but the Irishwoman has won three of their five meetings since, including their last match at this year’s European Team Championships.
