Delierre delights home fans in Ottawa

Heather Wallace reports

Shawn Delierre today won the GoodLife Squash Open for the third time, definitely a fond venue for him. He beat Martin Knight in a long hard fought match.

Knight took the first game with some extremely tight length shots & finished well with some great backhand dropshots at the front to take it 11-5.

Delliere regrouped in the second with more patience & better length, which created easier openings for him, which he finished brilliantly at the front of the court, to take the second game 11-6.

In the third game, Knight got ahead in some long rallies, until he made three uncharacteristic errors in a row to let Delierre back in the game. Delierre then followed up with some great drop shots to take the lead & Knight from then on in was playing catch up. Delierre took a close third, 11-9.

In the fourth and final game, Delierre picked up the pace & had Knight scrambling the full lengths of the court, with ultimately Delierre winning the points and the game 11-7.

Today Delierre just had too much in his arsenal for Knight as he collected his 11th PSA title.
