Teran takes home title

After surviving tough battles in the quarter and semi-finals, top seed and home favourite Samantha Teran faced a third successive English Opponent in the final of the Mexican Open.

Second seed Lauren Briggs came close to taking the lead, but once Teran had taken the first game 11/9 she raced away to win the next two 11/2, 11/2 to take the match in just over half an hour, claiming her 15th WSA title from just 19 finals.

“Thanks to all my family, friends, sponsors, organizers of the event, and to the fans who gathered and encouraged me at all times,” said a delighted winner.

“Without all of them winning the first Mexican Open 2012 would not have been possible. This commits me to continue working in my game and in this new stage of promoter promoting squash, thank you…!”
